Week 7

The Odyssey: Book 1-8

The relationship between the Gods and the humans can be described as the relationship between parents and their young children. The parents tell the child not to do something but the child goes ahead and does it anyways and faces the consequences. This can be seen as soon as chapter 1 in the Odyssey when Zeus the father of gods is seen conversing about the acts that Aigisthos had done. Aigisthos had taken the wife of Agememnon despite the gods sending a message to him how the consequences that would follow his actions. The god of the sea Poseidon is characterized as vengeful because he is the only one who holds a grudge against Odysseys and has not let him go home.
